This project is a short, looping visual piece exploring the deportation of the Chechen and Ingush people on 23 February 1944.
Through a restrained, side-view composition of a moving train, the work focuses on stillness, repetition, and quiet suffering rather than spectacle. A family stands in the open doorway of a cattle wagon, exposed to the cold, while a child’s whispered voice reflects confusion, memory, and fading awareness.
The visual style is intentionally minimal and painterly, with muted tones and sparse detail to emphasize atmosphere over narrative. Subtle elements — frost, wind, distance, and silence — are used to convey the physical and emotional reality of forced displacement.
Rather than presenting the event in a documentary manner, the piece approaches it from an intimate, human perspective. The looping structure reinforces the sense of an endless journey, where time feels suspended and return becomes uncertain.
This work is not a reconstruction, but a reflection — an attempt to evoke memory, loss, and endurance through image and sound.
